Gday
Have a 2008 Spanish built D40 V6.
Been diagnosed to need a clutch and replace head gaskets.
It runs bit rough and improves after about 10 ks.
Also have been looking at ebay clutch kits..do they have special clutch kits..2 plate or some such.
My main question is how long could it run like this..mainly asking engine wise. Its a lot to be repaired.6k?..Do i just leave it .Dont do many ks with it.
Cheers Mick

Re: V6 Head gasket/s and clutch
Running rough on cold start is generally a timing chain issue where the chain itself has stretched. I would probably get this issue diagnosed sooner than later as the last thing you want is for the timing chain to let go. Regarding the clutch I can send you a link here of clutch kits we sell to suit the V6 Petrol D40 : https://navlife.com.au/store/filter-typ ... pe=product . We also sell 4Terrain but I am yet to add them to the website for the V6 Petrol. As you can see in the link there are Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF) and Single Mass Flywheel (SMF). Standard they come out with a DMF but most people will convert these to SMF especially if towing and offroading as they are a better, stronger clutch. The DMF was designed more for comfort and city driving and the flywheel can not me remachined.
Re: V6 Head gasket/s and clutch
Thanks Navboss
Explained that clutch difference for me.
Have now got 3 diagnoses as to my utes problem.
Burnt exhaust valves.
Timing chains.x2
Head gaskets..
Should say my ute is petrol.
Will have to pay for another diagnosis.
